Funding the Future of Postpartum Care

We have a plan to fight maternal mortality and it starts with postpartum care that truly supports new parents. Every year, Black and Brown women in the United States face staggering rates of maternal mortality. In fact, they are three to five times more likely to die from childbirth-related complications than their white counterparts. But here’s what gives us hope: according to the CDC, 84 percent of these deaths are preventable.

Even more urgently, the CDC reports that 47 percent of pregnancy-related deaths in 2020 occurred between 7 and 365 days postpartum. That means nearly half of all maternal deaths happen after the baby is born—when too many families are sent home without adequate support.

At Sweet Bee Services, that’s not just a statistic—it’s a call to action. Since 2016, we’ve supported over 120 families throughout Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. Our clients are alive. They are healing. They are thriving. And their consistent feedback has made one thing abundantly clear: We need more postpartum support.

That’s why we’re taking our work to the next level by opening our first postpartum wellness center in Baltimore. This one-of-a-kind space will provide personalized, trauma-informed, and culturally aligned care to all new parents.

Whether through a 3–5 night stay or transitional in-home care, we meet families where they are. Because recovery doesn’t end at the hospital doors. And it certainly shouldn’t happen alone.

Our model works. With over 1,200 hours of care delivered and a growing team of doulas and specialists, we’re setting a new standard for what postpartum care can look like. And now, we’re ready to expand that vision.

We’re raising $200,000 through our iFundWomen campaign to:

  • Open our first postpartum wellness center in Baltimore

  • Train more postpartum care providers

  • Extend life-affirming care to more families who need it

Whether you give $25 or $25,000, your support helps build a future where safety, rest, and recovery are available to all new parents.

Join us. Invest in postpartum care that saves lives. Be among the first to find out when we launch.
